My journey into osteopathy began long before I trained as one. My mum is an osteopath, so I grew up around treatment rooms, anatomy books and conversations about the body. Looking back, it's hard not to see the influence.
Years later, while studying beauty therapy, I found myself drawn to the part of the course I hadn't expected to love: massage. I was fascinated by the way touch could change how someone felt, moved and carried themselves. From there, osteopathy felt like a natural next step.
My interest in movement came later.
During Covid, I became increasingly inactive, gained weight and started struggling with knee pain. A friend who worked as a personal trainer introduced me to strength training, and it completely changed my relationship with exercise. I became stronger, more confident and more connected to my body than I had ever been before.
That experience continues to shape the way I work today.
"My aim is never a quick fix. It's to help you understand your body, recover more fully and feel supported for the long term."
Amina Shamsi, M.OstI believe feeling better is only the beginning. My approach combines osteopathic treatment, rehabilitation and movement coaching to help clients not only recover from pain, but build strength, confidence and resilience for the long term.
While I value rehabilitation and strength, I also believe there is something powerful about slowing down. Treatment should be effective, but it should also be an opportunity to pause, breathe and reconnect with your body.
I work with women at every stage of life, from pregnancy and postpartum to menopause and beyond. My goal isn't simply to help people get out of pain. It's to help them understand their bodies, feel confident in them and continue doing the things they love for as long as possible.
I'm deeply interested in the idea of ageing well. Not anti-ageing, but pro-ageing. Building strength without losing softness. Supporting a body that feels capable, resilient and cared for, whatever chapter of life you're in.
