Something I see constantly in my practice: women who have been carrying pain or discomfort for months, sometimes years, who have simply normalised it. Headaches that come every week. A lower back that aches through their cycle. Neck stiffness they put down to stress. Pelvic pain after pregnancy that was never properly addressed.
None of it is inevitable. And most of it is treatable.
I chose to work exclusively with women because I wanted to build a practice that truly understands how the female body changes and adapts across a lifetime. Those changes, through puberty, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, perimenopause and beyond, are significant. They shift how the musculoskeletal system holds tension, how joints load, and how the body compensates. I want to treat with that understanding, not despite it.
During pregnancy
Pregnancy is one of the most physically demanding things a body can do. As the baby grows, the centre of gravity shifts forward, the lower back curves more deeply, the pelvis widens and the ligaments soften. This is completely natural, but it can create significant discomfort, especially in the lower back, hips, pelvis and ribs.
I treat throughout all three trimesters. My approach during pregnancy tends to be gentle and focused, using cranial osteopathy and soft tissue work to keep the pelvis mobile, reduce tension and support the body through its changes. Many of my patients tell me their pregnancies became significantly more comfortable after starting treatment.
Postpartum recovery
Recovery after birth is often rushed and under-supported. The body has been through something enormous, and the weeks and months that follow, especially when you are feeding, carrying and sleeping in positions you never normally would, can leave a real mark.
Postnatal osteopathy is one of my favourite parts of my work. Addressing pelvic tension, thoracic stiffness from feeding, and general deconditioning, and then building strength back alongside it, can make a real difference to how women feel in the months after birth.
Everyday strain
You do not need to be pregnant or postpartum to benefit. The majority of the women I treat are dealing with the accumulation of everyday life: desk posture, stress, poor sleep, not enough movement. Neck pain, tension headaches, hip tightness, recurring lower back ache. These are structural problems, and they have structural solutions.
If any of this sounds familiar, I would love to help.
